"Is Landscape Architecture important in the developing world?"

Apologies for lack of audio with this presentation. Nat discussed the importance of the "Livelihood approach" to post disaster intervention. In particular environmental assets within disaster zone areas and the significance of landscape architecture for social and economic activity in areas of poverty. Regardless of economic status, people need space to express themselves freely and in this sense landscape has a very strong political and democratic importance. The presentation shows many case studies of how landscape is used effectively for urban development, improving livelihoods, communities and local quality of life.

Nigel Dunnett  - Designing and Creating Show Gardens for Chelsea 2011 and 2012 and other current small scale projects.

This is the first Landmark lecture we're making available online. We're going to film and upload all further lectures (with the guest speakers permission) to this blog, so watch this space.
Please excuse the video and audio quality of this one, we've just purchased some new AV equipment, so all future lectures will look and sound much better. Anyway we hope you enjoy it, let us know what you think!
