Please excuse the video and audio quality of this one, we've just purchased some new AV equipment, so all future lectures will look and sound much better. Anyway we hope you enjoy it, let us know what you think!

LANDMARK AGM! Nominate yourself for a committee position.

Hello All,

The Landmark AGM is fast approaching! This means if you are interested in being on the committee next year you need to nominate yourself for one of the positions.

These are:

President - As the President you hold the society together. You will need good leaderships skills and the ability to delegate jobs. You need to be approachable by all the year groups and be motivated to improve the society for all. Part of this role is to be inclusions officer and to ensure that everyone feels they can contribute to the society.

Secretary - As the secretary you are responsible for organising and recording meetings. You are in charge of the society correspondence and general admin. An example of a job for the secretary would be the hoody design competition we ran last year.

Treasurer - In charge of the money going in and out of the society accounts, paying guest lecturers, social profits etc. Responsible for ensuring the society stays out of debt.

Social Secretary - Responsible for organising events and their publicity, the key one being the ball.

Volunteer Secretary - A new position on the committee, this involves organising relevant volunteer opportunities for society members.

Sports Captain - Responsible for organising society sports teams and matches.

For more information about the main committee member roles go to: http://shef.ac.uk/union/get-involved/societies/zone-online/committee-roles-and-training.php

Please note that with these roles comes a certain responsibility, it is not acceptable to take on a role and then put it aside to purely prioritise your academic work. If you do not think you can time manage effectively, do not nominate yourself, as it will not be fair on the rest of the committee.

If you can however, being involved in this committee is an incredibly rewarding experience. It will give you a chance to leave your mark and learn important life skills.

To nominate yourselves please email your name, year group and the position you would like to fill to landmark@sheffield.ac.ukNominations close on the Friday 16th of March.

The AGM will be held on the Wednesday 21st of March, lecture theatre to be confirmed. Those who have put themselves forward will have a minute to convince those attending to vote for them. Voting will take place at the meeting and will only be open to society members. Even if you do not wish to be on the committee please come along to vote for your new representatives!

Hope to see you all there!
